Corporate Social Responsibility

We recognise that our business activities have a direct impact on the local and global environment. Our CSR policy addresses our responsibility to protect economic, social and environmental interests within the wider community.

CSR Social

Social

As a local company, we try our best to support our surrounding community. We do this in a number of ways including sponsoring a local sports team (Canterbury Rugby Club), and getting involved with charities such as Young Minds, Catching Lives Homeless Support Charity and Hope for Tomorrow. This also includes supporting our own staff; work-life balance and reducing stress must be a priority in any workplace.

We are also active members in local business and industry networking groups, including Kent Invicta Chamber of Commerce, Constructing Business Excellence, FSB and Building Kent/Sussex Connections.

CSR Environmental

Environmental

Our internal environmental policy addresses key activities we have pledged to abide by as a company to reduce our environmental impact. The policy outlines our control of energy efficiency, control of waste management, control of efficient transport, pollution prevention and communicating environmental issues. Our policy is reviewed by Directors annually and changes are made according to new legislation and regulations.

We are currently looking into how we can become carbon-neutral as a business. Modus have recently signed up to the SME Climate Hub, a government backed initiative that supports SMEs with tools and resources to help them halve carbon emissions by 2030 and become carbon-neutral by 2050.

As Construction Consultants, we have considerable control over what materials are used and how sustainable a project can be. We have the knowledge and experience to suggest more sustainable construction methods and materials to ensure projects can be executed sustainably, within budget and on-time. Modus have successfully incorporated sustainable practices and considered environmental impact on many of our projects.
